ISO Renewal and a change of season

We are rounding the corner towards winter after an eventful summer.

We renewed our ISO certification in August this time under the new protocol - 9001:2015 and with a new certifying partner ( Intertek )   The process went smoothly and although it may seem odd to say - the new protocol is a nice improvement over 9001:2008 ( It seems that ISO also follows a continuous improvement model)    

This new program, as with most things, will be a work in progress where we will continue to look for ways to strengthen the operation and to identify and mitigate risks.

We are continuing our efforts to stay on top of the latest trends in machines and tooling and to that end we have had staff at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology show in Toronto as well as the DMG Mori Seiki open house in Pfronten Germany this year.  We have had some new tooling introduced to the operation with great success - continuous improvement.

Business volume has shown improvement throughout 2017 vs 2016.  Despite the increased activity we continue to have capacity avail to take on new assignments.

We have had some interesting assignments over the last quarter including a rush job where we had to manufacture a 10 foot long x 5.525” dia Titanium shaft - the timeline was such that we had to fly the material in.  The job was turned around on time and installed to our client’s satisfaction.   

We are looking forward to winter (mostly - or at least some of us are) as this is typically a busier time of year for many of our clients.
